Welcome to Mercoledì Riso
We want to make children aware that rice is good and healthy.
For this reason, we have created a simple programme for Class IV
of European elementary schools.
The purpose of the project is the proper use of rice in the school diet.
We have called the project Mercoledì Riso which means Wednesday Rice.
Between January and April 2015, classes participating in Mercoledì Riso project, will be trained by tutors from the Regional Slow Food Condotta and will have to carry out research to create a rice recipe (for example, it could be a traditional recipe of the region of origin or a new proposal for the school canteen menu).
Each class will receive a free educational kit to develop its research. The teaching kit will be sent in January 2015 and will include:
-Information about the project and timing;
-What to do in class;
-Pre-numbered sheets (A4 Size, black & white) divided by subject for simple use;
-Envelope to return material
Panel of Judges
By April 24th 2015 a panel of judges will examine all the entries received and will choose the finalist schools. Evaluation criteria are:
-Ingredients (it is suggested to use seasonal and local products)
-Inexpensiveness of the recipe
-Presentation of the recipe
-Name of the recipe
The selected schools will take part in the final event. The complete list will be published on the internet: www.mercolediriso.it.
